I inherited a patterned scarf with a damaged border, and I would like to repair it so I can wear it again. I would rather test carefully than unpick stitches from fragile fabric later. Only the edging needs replacing, but its original shade is difficult to identify now. My local shop has a muted green ribbon and a much warmer brown ribbon. Neither is an exact match, so the repair will inevitably introduce a new color. This led me to read about color analysis because the repaired border will sit close to my face when the scarf is tied. Testing the two trims with pins should be possible without cutting the scarf itself. Keeping the original feel is important, although I hope to use it regularly afterward. Which comparison would help you choose between preserving the pattern and flattering the wearer? |
